³"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." – Proverbs 16:3 ESV

We live in a culture that tells us: “Make it happen.” Push harder. Grind longer. Outwork, outshine, outperform. And while discipline is a God-given gift, it becomes dangerous when it starts replacing dependence on God.

Proverbs 16:3 doesn’t tell us to give God credit after we succeed—it calls us to give Him control before we start. That word “commit” in the Hebrew literally means to roll something onto someone else. So the picture here is of us rolling the weight of our work, goals, and even anxiety onto the shoulders of God. And let’s be real—we weren’t built to carry that weight anyway.

Sometimes we chase our vision so hard that we forget to ask the simple question: “God, is this even what You want for me?” We can spend years building something impressive in the world’s eyes—only to realize it wasn’t eternal. Because the only thing that lasts is what’s rooted in Him.

As athletes, entrepreneurs, leaders—we’re wired to pursue excellence. But there’s a difference between excellence and ego. Excellence says, “God, use me.” Ego says, “God, watch me.” Proverbs 16:3 invites us to lay down our pride and pick up His purpose.

Here’s the thing: when God establishes your plans, they don’t shake under pressure. They’re rooted in something stronger than public opinion or performance. They’re not based on how many people are clapping for you—they’re based on a calling that existed before anyone knew your name.

This week, don’t just ask God to bless your hustle. Ask Him to guide it.
Because when God builds it—it’s built different.
Not just for now... but for eternity.

Prayer:

God, I give You my goals and I give You the version of success I’ve been chasing—especially when it’s been more about proving people wrong than pleasing You.

Help me to stop relying on my own strength. Remind me that surrender is not weakness—it’s wisdom. You know the plans You have for me, and they’re better than anything I could draw up on my own.

So today, I commit my work to You—my training, my schedule, my ideas, my future. If it’s not Your will, I don’t want it. Shape my ambition until it reflects Your intention.

Let my work bring You glory—not just results. Establish my steps, even if they lead where I didn’t plan to go. Because if You’re in it, I know it’s worth it.
